Kyzyl, 26 December 2024 – X5 Group, a leading Russian food retailer, has launched operations of its Pyaterochka proximity store chain in the Republic of Tyva, expanding the Company’s geographic footprint to a total of 74 Russian regions. The first Pyaterochka store was opened in Kyzyl at 94 Kochetova Street along with the store-to-door express delivery service.
The new store has a selling space of over 500 sq m and offers an assortment of some 6,000 SKUs. Currently, the store mainly offers goods from nationwide producers, but the chain aims to grow local procurement to match local preferences while emphasising fresh foods. For instance, in the bread category, Pyaterochka has already teamed up with local producers, with their share exceeding 60%. The chain is committed to fostering and enhancing partnerships and is willing to support local businesses by offering streamlined supply contracts and comprehensive advice.
To make its prices even more affordable, the chain works relentlessly on cost optimisation and expands strategic partnerships with suppliers while launching private labels that enjoy quality parity with market brands but are also cheaper. Private labels make up about a quarter of the total number of SKUs offered by the new store.
In addition to the new store, locals are now also able to enjoy Pyaterochka’s express delivery service (30+ minutes). The delivery service is available via the Pyaterochka mobile app. As new stores open, the service’s footprint will also expand.
“For Pyaterochka, this year has become a year of aggressive openings in Siberia and the Far East as we entered the Transbaikal Territory, Yakutia, the Jewish Autonomous Region, and Buryatia. Today, literally on the eve of the New Year, we are cutting the ribbon on a new store for Tyva residents. We hope that, with our help, preparations for this special day, one of the most favourite holidays for millions of people, will be easier, more fun and, definitely, more economical. To this end, we keep our prices consistently low on best-selling products, launch fast home delivery, and also offer our delicious ready meals, fresh baked goods, and hot savoury coffee,” commented Anton Astafyev, Executive Director of Pyaterochka’s East territory.
Pyaterochka also pays particular attention to social support for local communities. The store offers a 10% discount for pensioners (in the morning hours until 1:00 pm) and runs the Family Wednesday programme, when parents and foster parents of children under 13 receive a 20% cashback on purchases of children’s goods in the form of points in the X5 Club loyalty programme.
The first Pyaterochka store in Tyva currently employs 15 people. There are plans to open up to nine more stores in 2025, providing about 130 new jobs for local communities.
