Chekhov, 27 August 2024 – X5 Group, a leading Russian food retailer, announces the opening of a logistics hub in Chekhov, Moscow Region, to supply in-out products to all Chizhik distribution centres.
The 12,000-square-metre hub is designed to support consistent and timely delivery of new weekly selections of seasonal food and non-food products. The hub has a storage area for dry goods, while the warehouse facility can handle up to 1,000 pallets per day. Over 300 partners will supply products to the hub, including imported goods.
The logistics provider’s team will ensure the smooth operation of the distribution centre, while the Chizhik team will remain in charge of service and transport logistics management. The distribution centre runs an automated warehouse management system (WMS) tailored to the retail chain’s processes to make the process of handling goods more efficient.
Chizhik is rapidly expanding its logistics infrastructure in line with X5’s goal to accelerate the development of its hard discounter chain. Chizhik had opened 1,852 stores in 44 regions as of the end of July and continues to expand at a rapid pace. By year-end, the retail chain will launch six new distribution centres across its operating regions.
