Moscow, 5 March 2025 – X5 Group (“X5”, MOEX ticker: X5), a leading Russian food retailer, has closed a deal to acquire 100% of Krasny Yar, Baton, Slata and KhlebSol, all regional retail chains operating in Eastern Siberia.
In 2022, X5 reached an agreement to form a strategic partnership with the retailers and acquire a 70% stake in their businesses, with the remaining stake to be bought three years later. The retail chains are currently operating under their own brands with their operational processes intact and will continue to focus on improving the customer experience. This includes upgrading areas such as fruit and vegetable, ready meal, deli, and café spaces as well as meat departments in select stores that feature a large selling space.
As at the end of January, there were 248 Krasny Yar and Baton stores as well as 363 Slata supermarkets and KhlebSol discounters operating in Russia, including in the Krasnoyarsk and Transbaikal Territories, the Irkutsk Region, and the Republics of Tyva, Buryatia, and Khakassia. The retail chains have six distribution centres in Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Bratsk, and Chita, measuring a total of 62 thousand square metres.
“By combining its capabilities and expertise with X5, Slata has delivered solid performance over the past three years, demonstrating resilience and the ability to work in synergy with a strong partner. Customers can now benefit from even more attractive offerings and services, as reflected in increased traffic across the chains,” commented Vyacheslav Zayats, a shareholder of the retail chains Slata and KhlebSol.
“In partnership with X5, we have maintained our focus on improving the product offerings and services that our customers value most. The results achieved by our retail chains over the past two years attest to the success of this collaboration – and consumers are responding positively,” said Dmitry Saenko, a shareholder of the retail chains Krasny Yar and Baton.
