Moscow, 25 February 2025 – X5 Group (“X5”, MOEX ticker: X5), a leading Russian food retailer that operates the Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and Chizhik retail chains, has summarized the results of its supplier engagement efforts in 2024. Between January and December, 1,535 new suppliers began working with the Company’s retail chains and businesses, including 1,082 suppliers from Russia. Out of these new partners, 650 are micro enterprises and 240 are small businesses. The largest number of new suppliers were in the categories of fruits and berries (253 companies); vegetables, greens, and mushrooms (184); bread and bakery products (85); and carbonated drinks and water (55).
X5’s retail chains carried products from a total of 7,429 suppliers at the end of 2024.
In terms of regional distribution, the largest number of new suppliers came from Russia’s Central Federal District, where X5 signed agreements with 484 new partners, including 31 sole proprietors as well as 99 small and 312 micro enterprises. In Moscow, the Moscow Region and the Kaluga Region, the Company added 289, 101, and 12 new suppliers, respectively. Most suppliers from the Central Federal District focused on fruits and vegetables as well as deli products.
X5 is actively expanding its cooperation with manufacturers from the Far Eastern Federal District, which became the Company’s second largest region in terms of new partner additions. In 2024, the Company stocked its shelves with products from 124 new suppliers based in the district, including 36 sole proprietors as well as 33 small and 69 micro enterprises. A total 38 companies started shipping their products from the Khabarovsk Territory, 38 from the Primorye Territory, and 21 from the Transbaikal Territory. Most new partners in the Far Eastern Federal District offer bread and bakery products, ready-to-eat deli products, and dairy.
The Volga Federal District was ranked third by the number of new suppliers: in 2024, X5 started working with 119 companies there, including 24 sole proprietors as well as 29 small and 62 micro enterprises. Most new suppliers from this district are based in the Samara Region (21), followed by the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Tatarstan (15 each), and the Republic of Bashkortostan (13). In the Volga Federal District, the largest additions were among suppliers of bread and cakes, as well as vegetables.
In the Northwestern Federal District, X5 partnered with 116 new suppliers, including 20 sole proprietors as well as 30 small and 68 micro enterprises, most of them (73) based in St Petersburg. A total 14 new suppliers were added in the Kaliningrad Region and 11 in the Leningrad Region. Most new partners from the Northwestern Federal District supply bread and bakery products, vegetables, chilled fish products, and raw materials for X5’s smart kitchen in the Leningrad Region.
The Southern Federal District contributed 91 new partners to X5’s supplier pool, including 13 sole proprietors as well as 16 small and 59 micro enterprises. Most new suppliers from the district are based in the Krasnodar Territory (54), the Rostov Region (13), and the Volgograd Region (10). New suppliers from the south of Russia mostly supply fruits, vegetables, bread, and beer.
X5 added a total of 69 new partners in the Siberian Federal District, including 16 sole proprietors as well as 21 small and 30 micro enterprises. The largest number of new partners came from the Novosibirsk Region, with the retailer adding 16 companies to its supplier pool there. The Omsk and Irkutsk Regions (with 10 and 9 new suppliers, respectively) were also among the top three Siberian regions in terms of new suppliers. Bread, frozen food, and beverages account for the bulk of new supplies from the Siberian Federal District.
In the Urals, X5 gained 55 new suppliers (27 from the Sverdlovsk Region, 11 from the Chelyabinsk Region, and 6 each from the Tyumen Region and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area). These include 14 sole proprietors as well as 7 small and 37 micro enterprises. New suppliers in the Urals mainly focus on vegetables, deli products, and seasonal goods.
Another 23 partners were added in the North Caucasus Federal District (10 from the Stavropol Territory, 6 from Kabardino-Balkaria, 3 from the Republic of Dagestan), including 3 sole proprietors as well as 5 small and 13 micro enterprises. Most new partners from this district supply fruits, berries, and wine.
X5 additionally partnered with more than 450 foreign companies in 2024, including 154 suppliers from China, 52 from Uzbekistan, 38 from Turkey, and 28 from Azerbaijan. The majority of new foreign suppliers focus on product categories such as exotic fruits and berries, vegetables, wine, oriental sweets, chips, snacks, and breakfast cereals.
The overall share of small, micro, and medium-sized businesses among X5’s suppliers exceeded 63% in 2024.
